Doctor Who - Classic 'Who'...A New Street Date for 'Story #032: The Underwater Menace'

A bit over 2 weeks ago we passed along word from our trusted sources up in the Canadian home video retail industry that the long-awaited North American DVD release for Doctor Who - Story #032: The Underwater Menace (starring Patrick Troughton as the 2nd Doctor) would finally make it to these shores on January 19th. At the time we warned you that "BBC Home Entertainment has NOT officially announced this yet, nor has their distributor, Warner Home Video. We don't know how solid this info is, or if it's finalized yet." Apparently it was not finalized.

Overnight last night, people who pre-ordered the title from it's long-standing advanced odvdo.com entry were sent an email saying that the item had a new arrival date. Checking the listing itself shows that odvdo has added a street date for the first time: Tuesday, March 1st.

The price continues to show $24.98 SRP at Hidvsd, which some have pointed out is for what is (in the end) just 2 episodes. Please keep in mind a few things: this is the list price, and Amazon will very likely discount it leading up to the street date. This may not be the finalized BBC/Warner price for the title, since this hasn't been formally announced yet (and if the price drops for any reason, www.odvdo.com will give the lower price to people who pre-ordered it at a higher price!). Also, the DVD producers still had to create a way to show the viewer the story from the two missing episodes, so that still needs to be paid for somehow. Not as satisfying as the actual episodes, true, but its still there...as well as restoration of the two episodes which are present on the DVDs.
