Hollywood Wives (mini-series) - 1985's Mini-Series Based on the Jackie Collins Best-Selling Book

With all the news yesterday from Visual Entertainment Inc. (11 newly-announced "complete collection" TV-DVD releases of classic shows, package art for three previously announced titles) and today (a planned release of the '86 mini-series version of the Danielle Steel book, Crossings), we've got a surprise release date for another upcoming VEI release of a mid-80s mini-series based on a best-selling novel.

odvdo.com (Canada) has a new pre-order listing for the 1985 production of Hollywood Wives, based on the 1983 bestseller by Jackie Collins (who passed away just two months ago, and who was the younger sister of Dynasty star Joan Collins). The 3-episode event featured a superstar cast:

Aaron Spelling (Dynasty, Charlie's Angels, The Love Boat) produced the mini-series, and the theme song "Hollywood Wives" was performed by Laura Branigan ("Gloria," "Self Control"). The listing at odvdo.com's Canadian site shows that the Hollywood Wives DVD, never before released in North America, will be a 2-disc set priced at CA$27.99 SRP, and available on November 30th.

VEI acknowledges that they are producing DVDs for this mini-series. However, the studio hasn't formally announced the item yet, so the above date and cost information may not be finalized yet, and could be subject to change. Package art isn't available yet, either.
