Q*bert - 'The Best Of' the Cartoons from the CBS 'Saturday Supercade'

One of the most popular video games of all time is now an animated series! In the town of Q*Berg, Q*Bert hangs with his girlfriend, Q*Tee, and his friends as they go through a series of crazy adventures while taking on the town's bullies, Coily, Ugg, Wrong Way and Viper.
Protecting the town with a magic disc, Q*Bert is always willing to keep the peace, when he's playing baseball, going camping and even when he is in prehistoric times! No matter where Q*Bert goes, fun is sure to follow in 17 original episodes that will make you hop all over the place!
In 1983, Saturday mornings on CBS began to include Saturday Supercade, a show that lasted two seasons and which included several cartoons based on popular videogames of the era: Q*Bert, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Junior, Frogger, Pitfall!, Kangaroo and Space Ace.
Several years ago, we passed along word that the Warner Archive team had plans to release some of these segments on DVD in the summer of 2011, but that never came to pass. Some of the reason had to do with the problem that Warner Ruby-Spears Productions no longer had all the property rights to all the characters, as some of them had reverted to the owners of the videogame properties.
Now an odvdo.com pre-order listing (see button link below) shows that Sony, the folks who own the Q*bert videogame property rights, are releasing the Q*bert cartoon segments - or at least 17 of the 19 episodes - on DVD. www.odvdo.com shows that on November 3rd, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will put out The Best Of Q*bert as an MOD (manufacture on demand) title, available that day through online sellers such as odvdo.com 's CreateSpace MOD program.
Cost is $26.99 SRP, and package art is below. We have no information about why the remaining two episodes aren't included...but clearly it's a situation beyond Sony's control, because we're certain the studio would rather include the entire run. Kudos to Sony for making available everything that they're able to!
