A month ago we brought you Nickelodeon/Paramount's announcement that on June 9th they'll be releasing their own versions of the 2003 show's DVDs for both Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - NYC Showdown and also Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - The Search for Splinter. At the time we had some questions about the contents of those titles, and at TVShowsOnDVD we still haven't gotten official word from the studio with those answers.
However, thanks to an email overnight from one of our readers, "Gervaise," we've become aware that yesterday our friends at ToonZone.net posted a press release for these items, and it shows that we were fairly close with our speculations about which installments would be included. Here's what you'll get on each:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - NYC Showdown
"Return to New York, Part 1"
"Return to New York, Part 2"
"Return to New York, Part 3"
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - The Search for Splinter
"Things Change"
"The Search for Splinter, Part 1"
"The Search for Splinter, Part 2"
In proper order, as aired during Season 1 of the show, you would want to watch "Things Change" first (as it launches both the season and the show), then the entire "NYC" disc (the 21st, 22nd and 23rd episodes of that season), and then the Splinter stories (the 25th and 26th episodes, which together conclude the season). On the other hand, each story is taken from the "TMNT Volume 1" comic book run, and in those the entire "Search" disc stories took place before the entire "NYC" stories. Up to you!
