Batman - How Did We FINALLY Get to Next Week's Releases? Wired Has an Answer!

 Yesterday we brought you Warner Home Video's latest (and greatest!) press release surrounding next week's November 11th launch of the 1966 Batman live-action series on DVD and high-def Blu-ray Disc. There's not much more to say than that, is there?

Well, maybe there is. Back in 2008, after another round of rumors that this show was going to be out on home video "soon," I posted an extensive write-up that cataloged as many of the legal obstacles/rights issues as I could think of at the time, which prevented Bat-discs from spinning in your living room. How did we get from there to here? I don't have an answer for you.

But fortunately, Jake Rossen of Wired magazine DOES! This morning, Wired.com posted Rossen's write-up that is aptly titled, "Why We're Just Now Getting the 1960s Batman TV Show on DVD" It's a good read, and as informative as possible (especially considering that two of the MOST major players in this drama don't seem to be talking!). From the story told in this article, it looks like the people with the biggest roles to play in working everything out weren't the ones who got the ball rolling...it was a few outsiders.

We're not actually going to quote any part of the Wired story about this. But we encourage our interested readers to follow the link just above and check it out. And find out just who the heroes really are in all of this. It just goes to show that a small group of determined people CAN make a difference to help people. And isn't that what Batman - and heck, any hero story - is about?
