Episode two: "Well done Mick Fleetwood who, by being one of the most charming, modest and amusing celebrities to drive the reasonably priced car, saved episode two from what at times bordered on tedium. And this from somebody who regards Top Gear's combination of fast cars, amazing cinematography and immature jokes as the epitome of a good Sunday night.

Episode two: "The laser quest game of car vs aircraft at the Willow Springs circuit was pointless and too long. What's wrong with a conventional track test? Call me a traditionalist, but it might be nice to find out how the cars handle.

The sense that, after nearly an hour of viewing, you just didn't care who made it to the Mexican border first. 'Roll on the Africa special', I thought, 'the perfect chance for a return to form'. Boy was I right." CK

Episode four: "If a fan was given creative control over Top Gear for one night only, you can imagine them drumming up something like the car rugby segment in episode four - a ridiculous mash-up of muck, mauls and motors, with a sprinkling of decadent destruction. What should have been a piece of epic banterama sadly fell completely flat, for the same reason that you don't stir bacon into a pint to make it even more delicious." BB
