might air on TBS, but it'd feel right at home in CBS's lineup of sitcoms with an overly broad reach and tendency towards stale jokes that make it feel like we've heard everything it has to say even if occasionally it finds one or two somewhat clever ways of saying it. Like many shows in CBS's sitcom lineup, it's not devoid of laughs, but it does feel like a backslide into weak sitcom writing when compared even with already predictable shows like , and it's hopeless when compared to far more original fare like . Created by , a capable comedic actor in his own right, and starring That 70s Show's , isn't entirely without merit, and it does improve as the first season progresses, but it'll take a lot of work before it's anything worth recommending»

Television Editor & Columnist

Every Monday, Rachel will pick a TV show you need to watch out for that week and/or in the near future.

***

It’s been almost three weeks since returned to us, and its fourth season proves the series is better than ever.

Despite being one of the best comedies on TV, gets unfairly overlooked. Sure, it’s not as popular as ABC’s or as grounded as NBC’s , but it effectively mixes goofiness and pop culture with pathos every week — a difficult combination to pull off.

So why has it struck out with a lot of TV viewers? Much of it probably has to do with its first season and title, as neither is indicative of what has become over the past few years. Ever since the show stopped focusing on»

Having made her mark on the small screen with a role that won’t soon be forgotten, returned once more to television back in 2011 in The CW’s short-lived .

Some people belong on television. In my humble opinion, is one of those people. With the moody CW soap dead and buried after just one season, is Gellar ready for her next come-back?

According to the new TV Line exclusive, there’s a new half-hour comedy in the works and it’s got Gellar’s name all over it. I’m glad, of course, but my initial concern is, a comedy? Really, watch dvds online?

The series, which is as of yet untitled, is being developed over at 20th Century Fox TV, which boys and girls, was also home to . Oooo! I can’t get a feel for whether this is clean fun, or one of those sitcoms that would air closer to my bedtime. Still, it has a family centric plot. It details the crazy capers parents can get caught up in when their kids are not at home.»

The actress, who has been looking for a new project ever since the CW cancelled the production values-challenged Ringer last summer, is reportedly eyeing a comedy by 's that's in development at 20th Century Fox. It would be Gellar's second comedic outing since the failure of her 2009 HBO pilot, The Wonderful Maladys, in which she played an aggressive alcoholic of a dysfunctional family.
