TV best bets with ‘Leverage’ series finale, many a Christmas classic Radio & TV Talk

This is more a week for college football and at least on Monday and Tuesday, Christmas classics such as “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “A Christmas Story” and “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.”

Plus, TNT is curiously airing the final episode ever of “Leverage” on Christmas Day,complete series dvd.

Otherwise, enjoy the holidays and whatever new devices you may get from Santa that will enable you to watch more… TV.

MONDAY

“Are We There Yet?” 9:30 a.m. TBS — Nick attends his high-school reunion but must face an embarrassing incident from his past.

“Disney Prep & Landing” 8 p.m. ABC — A veteran elf is passed over for a promotion and gets paired with a rookie.

“It’s a Wonderful Life” 8 p.m. NBC — George will lasso the moon and pull it down once again.

“A Christmas Story” 8 p .m. TBS — Where you learn that sticking your tongue on a flagpole in the winter time isn’t necessarily a wise move. Then you can watch it another 10 times or so over another 24 hours.

“Home Alone” 9 p.m. ABC Family — Where child services don’t show up.

“Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives” 10 p.m. Food — Guy visits restaurants in Syracuse, Hoboken, N.J. and Duck, N.C.

TUESDAY

“Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas” 8 p.m. ABC — The original and still the best.

“Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas” 8:30 p.m. ABC — The film version featuring Jim Carrey.

“Rizzoli & Isles” 9 p.m. TNT (third season finale) — Dr. Hope Martin asks Maura a life-changing favor while Casey Jones preps for surgery.

“Hardcore Pawn” 9:30 p.m. TruTV — This show isn’t as popular as “Pawn Stars” but popular enough.

“Leverage” 10? p.m. TNT (fifth season finale) — With no word on a renewal, creator Dean Devlin set this up as a series finale, just in case. The team pursues a crooked financier but must recover lost evidence on a mountain.

WEDNESDAY

“Monica’s Closeups” 9 p.m. WSB — Monica Pearson may be retired but she’s back for an occasional special.

“The 35th Annual Kennedy Center Honors” 9 p.m. CBS — Honorees include Dustin Hoffman, Buddy Guy, David Letterman and members of Led Zeppelin.

“Toddlers & Tiaras” 9 p.m. TLC — Contestants at a Southern Elite pageant in Lexington, Ky.

“Hot in Cleveland” 10? p.m. TV Land — Mamie gets flirting lesson from Elka.

“Shipping Wars” 10 p.m. A&E — Jarrett questions his ability to ship a very rare electric sports car cross country alongside a precariously-placed hunk of metal.

“Top Chef” 10 p.m. Bravo — The foodies harvest oysters and prepare them for judge Emeril Lagasse.

“Happily Divorced” 10:30 p.m. TV Land — Fran gives romantic advice to a childhood friend who is also engaged.

THURSDAY

“Four Weddings” 9 p.m. TLC —Bacon is on the reception’s menu at Harvard University.

“Mary Mary” 9 p.m. WE — The sisters learn Lionel Richie’s “All Night Long” for a tribute to the singer.

“Project Runway All Stars” 9 p.m. Lifetime — The five remaining clothiers must meet a retail budget while creating high-fashion attire.?

“The Real Housewives of Miami” 9 p.m. Bravo — Reviewing what happened over the season in this Miami reunion.

“Beyond Scared Straight” 10 p.m. A&E — Troubled teens visit a prison in Oneida County, N.Y.

“Wives With Beehives” 10 p.m. TLC — Four women who live like it’s still the 1950s, which includes the clothing and morals.

FRIDAY

“Back to the Beginning with Christiane Amanpour ” 9 p.m. ABC — Amanpour explores biblical stories and places in the Middle East to investigate origins of many of the world’s religions.

“Ghost Adventures” 9 p.m. Travel — Nick, Zak and Aaron share stories of shootings, murder and hangings from hotels they investigated.

“I Love the 1880s” 9 p.m. History — Comical facts about Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein and the Wright brothers.

“Say Yes to the Dress” 9:30 p.m. TLC (ninth season debut) — Joan Rivers comes to the salon with a friend, whose daughter is seeking a dress.

“Teen Trouble” 10 p.m. Lifetime — Parents get advice on how to help their out-of-control teens.?

“The Mob Doctor” 9 p.m. Saturday Fox — Always a bad sign for a show when a network dumps new episodes on a Saturday night.
