The Expanse - Syfy's 'Season 1' Officially Announced: Finalized Date, Price, Box, Extras

The Expanse is a thriller set two hundred years in the future, after mankind has colonized the solar system. A hardened detective (Thomas Jane, Hung) and a rogue ship's captain (Steven Strait, Magic City) come together for what starts as the case of a missing young woman and evolves into a race across the solar system to expose the greatest conspiracy in human history.
Based on the New York Times best-selling book series collectively known as The Expanse by James S. A. Corey. Starring Shohreh Aghdashloo (Grimm, X-Men: The Last Stand), Cas Anvar (Castle, Argo), Wes Chatham (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, The Mentalist), Thomas Jane (Hung, The Sweetest Thing), and Steven Strait (Revenge, Magic City).
We passed on word shortly into this new year that The Expanse - Season 1 was up for pre-order at Hidvsd's site, and showing a March 22nd date over there. It's still listed that way, but at the time we told you that Universal hadn't formally announced the title yet, and that the date might change.
Now Universal Studios Home Entertainment has officially scheduled The Expanse - Season 1 on DVD ($39.98 SRP) and high-def Blu-ray disc ($49.98 SRP) with a finalized street date of April 5th. The studio says that both 3-disc sets will come with one extra: "Includes exclusive bonus footage!" The Blu-ray version will also include UltraViolet digital copies of the episodes.
