The Facts of Life - Shout! Provides a Statement About Music Clearances for 'The Complete Series'

 Early last month we brought you the Shout! Factory press release for The Facts of Life - The Complete Series on DVD, a 26-disc set with every season that will be available from the Shout! Store online beginning December 16th, and everywhere else (odvdo.com and other e-tailers, local stores, etc.) on January 13th. The press release didn't address an issue that fans have asked about, however: the music clearances! So today, Shout! Factory has kindly sent us this official statement which they've been providing to fans that ask:
Since Shout Factory first announced that we would be releasing the The Facts of Life: The Complete Series on DVD we have had several inquiries as to whether or not we would be able to clear music throughout the series. We are happy to confirm today that we have been successful in clearing almost all of the tracks that played throughout the 9 seasons which includes rare performances from some artists such as Michael Damian, El DeBarge and Stacey Q (who made two appearances on the show and sang her dance hits "Two of Hearts" and "We Connect").

Unfortunately, there was one song we could not clear that appeared in the Season 7 Episode "Tootie's Graduation" aka "The Graduate" which resulted in two minor edits but do not take away from the tone or integrity of the episode. Being fans of the show ourselves, we felt it was important to communicate all "the facts" to the fans of this iconic 80s TV Show.
We've said many a time that getting 100% of the song clearances on music-heavy Complete Series TV show packages is a mighty high target, and often unrealistic. Based on Shout!'s statement, they apparently came just one song shy of 100% perfection...a nice percentage in any event! We're looking forward to this pack, and we hope all of you are as well. Our thanks to Shout! for letting us share this with all of you.
