Batman - 'The 2nd Season, Part 1' Box Art, Front and Back...Plus, Bat-Climb Cameos!

Yesterday we had the heads-up that February 17th will be the street date for Batman - The 2nd Season, Part 1. Currently this title has been announced for DVD only; no Blu-ray version is indicated (if you want season sets to come out in Blu-ray Disc format, you should say so on Warner's social media sites, rather than ours!). Since the show's second season was 60 episodes long - roughly twice as many as the first season, or the third - the studio has decided to split that middle season up into two half-season sets, making things easier on the wallets of the fans!

In our story yesterday, we showed a small "thumbnail" shot of the packaging for this next title. Now the studio has begun distributing high-res looks at the cover art, front and back, for this 4-disc box. We've got a look at that for you, below. Also, fans have been wondering at how "complete" these releases are going to be, in terms of some of the "Bat-climb cameo" appearances (most of them in the second season) by characters who show up in TV programs owned by other studios. Will we still see "Colonel Klink" from Hogan's Heroes? "Det. Sgt. Sam Stone" from Felony Squad? "Lurch" from The Addams Family? Yes, yes, and yes! And yep, we'll also see Jerry Lewis, Dick Clark, Edward G. Robinson, and Cyril Lord (the "Carpet King" of the U.K.), too. How about "Santa Clause"? Ho, ho, ho...no worries, he's there!

What about "The Green Hornet and Kato": are they there, both in their Bat-climb cameo and in their two-part episodes? YES! Now, we won't predict whether or not that means there will be any DVD releases of the Green Hornet TV show anytime soon; even though it was also a Greenway Production, that's a different program with a different set of rights obstacles, and we have no knowledge of any sort that it should be expected to home video anytime soon (so please don't ask). But for now Van Williams and Bruce Lee appear on their proper Batman episodes. Hurrah!
