The Americans - Fox Announces DVDs for 'The Complete 2nd Season' Available in mid-December, just in time for Christmas

 One of television's most exhilarating series, The Americans, returns for Season 2 - with more danger, more intrigue and more steamy alliances. Technological advances have escalated Cold War tensions to an all-time high, and undercover KGB operatives Elizabeth and Philip Jennings (Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys) face the growing threat of discovery. As their assignments grow more deadly, their family is in more danger, and their loyalties are tested like never before in this thrilling series.
Fox Home Entertainment has today announced that The Americans - The Complete 2nd Season is coming to DVD late this year, on December 16th. The set runs 617 minutes long, and is presented in widescreen video with English 5.1 Dolby Digital sound with a Spanish 2.0 Surround Sound alternate track, plus closed captioning and subtitles in English, Spanish and French. This year, Fox has been cutting back on Blu-ray Disc releases for TV shows whose most recent season (or volume) set releases on BD just didn't have enough sales to justify the format. Apparently The Americans is one of these, as The Complete 2nd Season is being announced for DVD format only. Perhaps you and I were buying the Blu versions of those seasons, but not enough other people have been! This is just the latest of a very long line of TV shows which aren't getting a Blu-ray edition this time around.
