This is the biggest thing to happen to Friday since Rebecca Black sang about her cereal.

Deadline reports that "Friday the 13th" will be adapted into a dramatic TV series,tv.com. The news comes after the announcement of a deal between Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films and Crystal Lake Entertainment. The series will consist of hour-long episodes with the characters and setting taken from the "Friday the 13th" franchise.

The basic storyline will reportedly re-imagine its famous killer -- and every promiscuous teen's worst nightmare -- Jason in multiple time periods, reveal secrets about his family and past and introduce the audience to the small town of Crystal Lake. (Which we're guessing will get a lot smaller after Jason arrives). Franchise creator Sean S. Cunningham will serve as an executive producer and Bill Basso ("Terminator") and Jordu Schell ("Avatar") will script out the series.

Cunningham said, "We plan to build on this legacy with a provocative and compelling take that expands upon the storylines that have already thrilled millions worldwide," according to Deadline.

The "Friday the 13th" franchise launched its first film in 1980 and has grossed more than $460 million globally.
