Ted Morgan has been treading water for most of his life. After his wife leaves him, Ted realizes he has nothing left to live for. Summoning the courage for one last act, Ted decides to go home and face the people he feels are responsible for creating the shell of a person he has become. But life is tricky. The more determined Ted is to confront his demons, to get closure, and to withdraw from his family, the more Ted is yanked into the chaos of their lives. So, when Ted Morgan decides to kill himself, he finds a reason to live.

Not into writing long reviews. Suffice to say, Sean William Scott's restrained performance came as a revelation as my last exposure to his acting capabilities was 'Dude...where's my car?' Less said about that movie the better.

The story is an amalgamation of standard dysfunctional family tropes, but spun into an interesting and engaging yarn about dealing with the past and coming to terms with the present. The characters are generally likable and relatable. And the background score is pleasing. The ending is predictable but again, a small surprise in the form of an underwater visitor gives it a feel-good vibe.

Overall, its definitely worth a watch. Though parents would be advised to supervise their children. The movie is peppered with a few verbal and some subtle visual obscenities that, while apposite to the story, could have been avoided. Though the movie doesn't suffer under their weight.
